Web design is the creative process of making a website, this involves using software to help during this process. Web design also the process of developing the content which you will have on your website. The basis of web design is basically to build a collection on online content that includes using applications and documents that are all then loaded onto a web server that gives them connection to the internet. A website can included a number of things such as; media, sound, pictures, content as well as being interactive.

Whilst building a website during the web design process you should think about the structure of your website, how you want it to be, and what will be the best structure for it. This means looking at how you are going to navigate your customers around the site; it should be simple for them to understand so it keeps their attentions, however you still want it to be unique to your site. The layout of your site should be structured and systematic so that it makes sense to what you are trying to convey to your audience but also to show your business in a good light. Your homepage should start this off, it should show a clear strategy so that it is clear to your audience what you are trying to say through your website as well as what you are trying to achieve.

When working through the process of web design you will come across a number of codes that you will need to use, and you will also find that the more complex site you make the more complex the coding will be. For example, simply coding would be used on basis pages that involve just using HTML coding; this stands for Hypertext mark-up language, this will be used for every page on your site as it is just part of the set up. However as you move on and you start using more applications and your site becomes more complex with the add on's of; media, sound, graphic and such like you will need to use plug in's like Quick Time, Java and Adobe Flash.

During the web design process is when you will mainly also focus of the following elements; Audience, purpose, context, content and planning. Before you start on the process of web design looking at the above elements will come into your website planning, this is something that will prove to be really useful, even if you don't really feel like doing it will help you out a lot. For example, looking into your audience will allow you to research into their spending trends, needs and wants. As well as looking at that it will also allow you to look into the market that you are moving into and what your competitors are doing.

Planning your purpose is also important as this allows you to make a clear and specific statement about what exactly it is you want to achieve with your website as well as what you want to gain.
